Chemical Peels
Controlled exfoliation for renewed skin.
Medical-grade chemical peels that exfoliate the outer layers of skin to improve tone, texture, and clarity, with formulations selected to match your skin and goals.
- Downtime
- Varies by peel — expect some tingling or throbbing, reddened skin, and possible crusting or scabbing; stronger peels carry more noticeable swelling
- Sessions
- A single VI Peel session addresses most concerns; the Jessner peel self-neutralizes and typically completes its peeling process over 7–8 days
What it treats
- Sun damage and pigment irregularities
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Acne and acne scarring
- Minor hyperpigmentation
- Uneven texture and reduced elasticity
How it works
Chemical peels use one of three acid categories — alphahydroxy acid (AHA), trichloroacetic acid (TCA), or phenol — chosen and strength-matched to your skin. The solution is applied to controllably exfoliate the outer skin layers, prompting cell turnover as skin renews. Anesthesia typically isn’t needed: TCA and phenol have their own anesthetic properties, and AHA produces only a slight stinging sensation. Depending on the peel, petroleum jelly or waterproof tape may be used afterward.

Your Chemical Peels journey
It always starts with a consultation: a skin analysis, your history and your goals, with Dr. Kerline Marcelin, before anything is booked. How a first visit works →
- 1
Consultation & peel selection
Dr. Marcelin matches a peel type and strength — VI Peel or Jessner — to your skin and goals.
- 2
Application
Skin is cleansed, then the solution is applied. Most patients feel only mild stinging or warmth rather than significant discomfort.
- 3
Peeling process
Skin may tingle, redden, or visibly peel over the following days. Sun protection is essential during this window.

The VI Peel is a medical-grade formulation customized for a range of concerns — sun damage, pigment, fine lines and wrinkles, acne, and acne scarring — with minimal to no downtime. The Jessner peel is a medium-depth peel using salicylic acid, lactic acid, resorcinol, and sometimes TCA; it self-neutralizes and typically completes its peeling process over about 7 to 8 days, and is often used for minor hyperpigmentation, scarring, wrinkles, and elasticity.
